Modernisation of Brackwede main street
More mobility for all
We are planning the development of the main street in Bielefeld-Brackwede together with the City of Bielefeld.
Three elevated platforms will be constructed to provide barrier-free accessibility in public transport, as required by law. In addition, the StadtBahn tram platforms will be adapted for the future use of Vamos trams.
The aim is to modernise and develop the entire transport space for all users. Footpaths, cycle lanes, parking and bus stops will be reorganised to eliminate areas of conflict.
A large section of Hauptstraße is being reopened just in time for Christmas. This means you can get to the shops along the shopping strip easily by bus again.

Phase 5: Partial reopening of Hauptstraße
The main shopping area on Hauptstraße in Brackwede will be easily accessible again in time for the Christmas period. Several bus routes will then also run along Hauptstraße again so that you can also get to the shops and doctors’ surgeries by public transport.
- The section of Hauptstraße from Gaswerkstraße to Wikingerstraße will be open to bike, car, and delivery traffic. The section from Salierstraße to Gaswerkstraße will be reopened a few days later.
- Bus routes 36, 94, 121, 123, and 128 will once again run along Hauptstraße. They will serve the Normannenstraße temporary stop there, among others.
- There are no changes for StadtBahn line 1, SEV line 1, or bus lines 28, 82, 135, 136, 228, and N6.
The doctors' surgeries and shops along Hauptstraße are just a few minutes' walk from the Normannenstraße temporary stop.
